It has been a truly extraordinary couple of weeks here at Springwell Mablethorpe. Our students have been brilliantly balancing their regular classroom routines and essential life-skills education with a once-in-a-lifetime surprise right on our school grounds!
Here is a look at what we have been up to recently.
👑 A Very Special Royal Arrival
Learning took an exciting turn when we had a highly unusual and spectacular visitor land outside!

A large, dark red helicopter landed directly on the grass of our school field.

To everyone’s amazement, the helicopter was actually carrying HRH The Princess Royal, Princess Anne!

Seeing the aircraft up close on our own field was a massive talking point for our young people and an unforgettable memory for the whole school community.
🧑🏫 Important Conversations: PSHE Workshop
While royal visits are exciting, we also remain deeply committed to our students’ personal and social development. We believe it is crucial to equip our young people with the awareness and emotional intelligence needed to navigate the modern world safely.
- KS4 Students gathered in S3 to watch an educational presentation , discussing boundaries and respectful behaviour.

Tackling such a serious subject requires care, and we were incredibly impressed by the maturity and focus our students brought to this vital PSHE session.
🍪Everyday Excellence: Numeracy and Cooking
Back in our standard lessons, our students have been showing fantastic focus and independence across a variety of practical tasks.

Morning Routines: One of our students in Pathway did a fantastic job taking the lead at the whiteboard. They engaged with visual maths exercises by grouping symbols and working out ratios.

Food Technology: In the kitchen, students put their practical maths skills to work! Supported closely by our wonderful staff, one student demonstrated excellent focus as he carefully weighed out ingredients, including margarine and plain flour, into a mixing bowl using digital scales.
We are incredibly proud of how our students balance their focused classroom work with the excitement of unexpected events.
