Springwell Careers Festival

Discover the highlights of the Springwell Careers Festival, where local employers, training providers, and educators came together to guide our students toward success.

Springwell Careers Festival

This academic year, Springwell Mablethorpe has developed its careers programme to further broaden pupil horizons, providing them with meaningful exposure to diverse career paths and essential life skills. This focus has become more embedded within the daily curriculum, where pupils are regularly provided opportunities to develop vital ‘soft skills’ and build an early awareness of different vocational pathways. From the launch of their half-termly careers newsletter to the expansion of the work experience programme, students are already benefiting and becoming better prepared for the world beyond the classroom.

From the Classroom to the Market

Pupils at Springwell Lincolnshire have already proven they have a keen eye for business. This year, they engaged in a hands-on enterprise project, designing and creating products to sell at the local Christmas market. This provided a fantastic opportunity for pupils to develop their understanding of finance and retail, practise customer service skills, and build further links with the local Mablethorpe community.

Careers Fair

The momentum continued last month as the school buzzed with energy during their Careers Fair. The Academy were incredibly grateful to the wide range of companies and professionals who attended. The event offered something for everyone, featuring stalls from local partners like The Co-op, Haven, and TONG Engineering, alongside community services such as the NHS Talent Academy, RNLI, and LIVES. Pupils also had the opportunity to ask questions of representatives from Community Learning in Partnership (CLiP College), Franklin Sixth Form College, and Grimsby & Skegness Colleges.

The day was about more than just browsing; it was about immersive experiences. Pupils engaged with a Financial Advisor, explored conservation with the Woodland Trust, and even took to the skies in a flight simulator.

Key Stage 4 pupils truly stepped up, participating in mock interviews with visitors. This was a pivotal opportunity to build self-awareness and practise professionalism in a supportive environment. The feedback was glowing; a representative from the Military Preparation College for Training noted:

“It was great seeing the students dive into conversations and genuinely explore their future pathways. A great success and great students!”

Real-World Experience

Beyond these events, Mablethorpe’s KS4 pupils have been embedding themselves in the local workforce. This year’s work experience placements have spanned car dealerships, leisure centres, and nurseries. For many, like Danielle, this has been a career-defining shift. Danielle has been spending two hours a week at Revolution Hair and Beauty Salon, getting hands-on with washing hair, foils, and highlights. “It’s just a real-life experience that you don’t get in school,” Danielle shared. “I think it’s what I want to do as a job, and I’ve already started looking into a Hair and Beauty course at Lincoln College.”

Seeing pupils transform their interests into concrete ambitions is exactly why the team do what they do. All look forward to seeing where these pathways lead them next.
